Yeah as I said earlier it looks SNK but I have never seen that pic before at all. Try asking on neo-geo.com, I bet someone there knows where it is from. Perhaps done by an SNK artist, just something that was done for fun or maybe never used or something, I dunno.

I've never seen the stuff in the BG. BUT the guy in the foreground is a combination of some official SNK artwork. I recognize the face and body from some artwork concerning KOF95 or 96. The face may be Andy, Ryo or Geese.

I'd say it was genuine but maybe wasn't used for a game, maybe a book or just concept art.

The guy is a combination of some pictures of Geese and Terry with some minor tweaking.

Crazily enough, this picture just came up for discussion on n-g.com last week. It is Shinkiro, done back in '95, about a month after the release of FF3. It's an illustration from the story of Geese Howard, and in fact, that is a young Geese in the middle there. This picture appears in "SNK Illustrations" (Gamest Mook vol. 39), page 61.

From my poor Japanese, all I can make out from Shinkiro's comments is that the guy on the bottom-left (in the Judo gi) is Jubei Yamada, believe it or not. From that, I'm assuming the guy on the bottom-right (hands clasped in front of face) must be Tung. Poor bastard never had hair...

No idea who the others are...I'm especially curious about the nun. Geese's mother...?

edit: Oh yeah...and you're right, it is marker (and colored ink).

hehe... i check it out too, and yep, it was there...
but that dude that's supposed to be Jubei looks more like Takuma for some reason... heheh anyways, there's your answer
