Whats up everyone? I'm tired of playing roms on my computer using the keyboard. I wanted to purchase a gamepad, but the local stores are over priced, $15-$50 USD. As a result, I've decided to make one. I found this website; www.fury-tech.com/Modding/Xbox-Controller-PC-Conversion-Mod (hopefully I put that in correctly.) This website shows how to convert an Xbox controller into a gamepad rather easily. Just wondering if anyone has had success with this or a similar idea.

Never tried it personally although I know it can be done. I know lots of guys on neo-geo.com's tech forums have done similar things, but it might be easier just to pay out and get a PC pad unless you have a bit of electronics experience and know what you are doing. Still, projects like that are cool and if you do get it working, it is quite satisfying to say "I did that" ;D Kaz

In my experience, PC pads don't usually seem as high quality as their console counterparts. Of course, there are bound to be exceptions to the rule ... I find the Saturn pads (Japanese style) work best out of everything though. The best digital pad ever made, imo. The D-pad is soooo precise!

Might be a fun project to fool with , how well it actually works is probably debateable and unless you have an extra pad laying around I dont see where its very viable price wise since I would be willing to bet Logitech makes a superior PC pad espicially wireless for about 40 bucks and whats an S pad cost about $29.00 or so ? Bye the way any $15.00 PC pad wont ever be worth using since they are generally junk. Sadly I have to say that I think the PS2 pads are superrior to just about any other analog combo pad Ive used ,but straight digital the Saturn is probably the best one I have used ...yes I miss my Saturn now and then ;D Regardless of my thoughts ..... let us know how this turns out and the resulting functionallity should you take this on

Sorry to disappoint, but this isn't going to happen after all. I was planning to make this conversion this past weekend, but after shopping around at every store i went to, I came to this conclusion. An Xbox pad of any sort, new or used was going to cost me. All the USB cables that I could find were expensive as hell, starting at $20. And finally, seeing as how the creation probably wouldn't be plug and play, and drivers can vary beyond what the site has. It could likely be a waste. Rather than risking the waste of money, I broke down and purchased a thoroughly bad ass Saitek gamepad.
