Just mix the Gameplay of KoF and the Graphics of MotW, and we have a cool, awesome new AoF!!! ;D ;D I wonder, which Game becomes MotW-like first!! (except maybe MotW2!!)

Sorry, I have to disagree with you on that one mate . AoF was pretty good fun at the time it was released, and it *did* introduce a few things that hadn't been done before... e.g power bars for your special moves, the zooming camera, etc. I also think many of the characters are very cool, I mean hell, they are still using many of them in the KoF series today, as well as in SvC and CvS. It does look very poor by todays standards, but back then it actually was decent. AoF2 I didn't like though because of the insane difficulty of the CPU, but AoF3 wasn't too bad... not great but still reasonable entertainment for a few hours. That game still has better animation than almost any other Neo Geo game as well, second only to MotW, although it is damn close. Anyway, as I said before, I'd still like to see another AoF game, but they would have to change a lot of stuff and make the game engine a lot more solid to make it worthwhile today. Kaz The introduction of power bars added little to the actual game play and absolutely nothing to give the game an air of originality. AoF was a shameless SF rip-off that made SNK appear a second rate "me too" company, a stigma that was never entirely shaken off in the West and may have hampered sales/distribution of some of the excellent games that followed. Sure, I went crazy ape-shite bonkers when I first saw an AoF cab; it was the first time I'd seen anything from the semi-mythical wonder that was the Neo Geo. I played it and was mildly impressed by the graphics at the time, but even ten years ago I didn't think it was very good.

Well, thge power bars perhaps didn't do anything for that particular game, but it was the first to introduce them and Capcom and SNK both took that concept later on and used to a meaningful effect. Also, you have to remember that AoF and FF were the first fighting games the company had ever produced, so you couldn't exactly expect them to be *that* great. Capcom was exactly the same - I mean, did you ever play Street Fighter 1? That was the single biggest turd I have ever played, and certainly worse than AoF... but it did pave the way for SF2, so you have to give it at least some credit Kaz

A new AOF would be a very nice welcome. I would love to see a new generation AOF version in the spirit of Garou. Mix in an older Ryo and it would be gaming heaven for me. LOL....a more mature version of Yuri would also be...............ghuuuu*drool* my sentiments exactly my dear man and besies it was my neo geo first

Kaz for the most part i agree, you're right aof 1 may seem shite now, but for their time they were pretty pioneering. even now, how many other fighting games can you think of that limits your special moves like that? or shows actual injury on the sprite? even the gameplay, while ridged and flawed, the concept of haveing little mini combos which can be pulled off by pressing the same button a few times (can't remember the technical term) was clearly an influence on subsequent games by other companies, though perhaps most notably tekken. the characters may be ripped off, but its hard to think of any fighting game around at the time which didn't have the usual ryu/ken/guile rip offs. admittedly some of the more original ones among them were terribile like wang and that boxer with the fireball, micky (?). others however, like king and kasumi were pretty fresh and have been rightly recognised for it by their longevity. as for aof3 i really like it, like kaz said, the graphics are spot on and consistent. the gameplay and difficulty are a lot better than any of its predecessors. as for aof4, i think its too late for sequel to be honest. i mean its been almost ten years now. time in which other games have already refined snks ideas for them to the point where it'd hard to do anything truly eye opening without being really radical to the extent that the game would be almost unrecognisable. something that could alienate a lot of long-term fans, which judgeing by its current line-up, snkp can't afford to do and thus won't.
