Nope, not talking about Monty Python... was just thinking that some of the discussion had got kinda stale and silly in the Non Neo gaming section this past week (for various reasons ), so let's turn over a new page and talk about something a little different (and no PS2 spam... really I mean it! ). Ok, I'll start - been playing some old games this past week for a bit of fun. I dug out a copy of Toshinden 1 for the PS1... it looks and plays a bit nasty now, but it's still a lot of fun and brings back some great memories. The music also TOTALLY pwns!!! I gotta try to get Toshinden 2 for the PS1... I spose I could play it on an emulator cos I know Zinc or something runs it, but I'd rather get the PS1 version if I can (searches local Gamestation... I'll bet it costs less than £5 now!) Now I'm on a trip through nostalgia avenue, I was thinking of trying to locate an old Karnov PCB (the platformer) if I can find one cheap because I feel like playing that and I still have a supergun here, so I may as well put it to some good use! Failing that I'll play it on MAME... might have to find the Phoenix roms again as well because it's been a long time since I played that game and I miss it badly! (last time I played it was down a pub that had some ooooold arcade games in there... they even had the sit inside Discs Of Tron cabinet!!! ) Anyone else got some random gaming thoughts? ;D Kaz

Man, I was a total Toshinden fan when I was younger. I bought a PSX just to play Toshinden basically. I couldn't believe how horrid Toshinden 2 was, luckily Toshinden 3 was better (and had tons of characters, and some good music, but bad voices {and chars with shotguns! }) LOL, I even have the Toshinden Anime. more on toshinden: I remember seeing a magazine review when I was young, that showed a character Cupido. I did everything I could to try and unlock her/play against her, and it was just three or 4 years ago that I found out she was only in the Saturn version. Anyway, I hooked up my PSX, and played Suikoden 1 from my memory card data from a few years back. I still can't beat Neclord even though I used gameshark to level a few of my characters up. I played KOF dreammatch '99. I have to congratulate SNK on making 3D backgrounds that look very 2D. ;D Played some VOOT and Prop. Arena as well, but nothing of note happened.

Due to Suko's sig, i was tempted to play AoF2 (i DLed teh romz ), DAMMN! AOF2 is hard a shit! i cant get get past Takuma , this has got to be the hardest Neo fighter lol my usual arcade visits consits of trying to look cool in Guitar Freaks (finally got my skillz back!, sort of), but teh chick still laugh at me , prolly becuz of my "Kaede" hair, or bcuz i suck , i got back into playing Last Blade 2 FE for DC, its really annoying cuz the voices dont come out at the right time, and the music cuts off at wrong times,.. this also happens in the DC Garou... ive read in some site and say its "normal"... hehe, glad that my DC isnt the problem.. Also, i found my old Sega Mega Drive 2! whoot! i played SamSho for a bit (The game that made be an SNK follower)... i also found plenty of cart, some dont work anymore... i hope i can find my Sonic 3 cart ;D well, that's my thoughts

Toshinden was quite a game, i can barely remember it now but i don't remember it being too good. ;D I remember being so excited when the anime of it came out. (Sofia nude scene.... Anyways, i been playing lots of jk3 lately in path to becoming a jedi lightsaber master. I wish more deep 3rd person multiplayer melee games would come out for the pc. Oh, can't forget the fact i'm really looking forward to the next chanka release cause i don't have a dreamcast anymore and i'm really looking forward to play Rival Schools 2 on full speed. Infact, i wish i could get that damn Zinc working so i could play the first.

ds: Yeah Toshinden was like that for me more or less... I bought my PS to play Wipeout, but then I played the demo disc that came with Toshinden and I traded in my old mono gameboy so I could afford to buy it along with NBA Jam ;D. I didn't think Toshiden 2 was *that* bad though... it felt like it was missing something but was still fun and the music was even better than thefirst one. Plus the intro kicked royal ass... especially the live action Sofia in it! ;D Buddha: AoF2 is a game I really want to love, but for me it's only worth playing against friends. Against the CPU it's just no fun if you ask me, unless you like a ridiculously hard challenge. Try it on level 8 for a laugh Goemon: I always wanted the anime but could never find it, and I don't think it was sold here Kaz

Goemon: I always wanted the anime but could never find it, and I don't think it was sold here Kaz Well you certianly didn't miss much, when i look back on that thing now it's just absolutely terrible like the Tekken anime imo. Also, Sofia was drawn like crap in the nude scene anyways ;D

It's very useful especially if you're good at false roman canceling. I haven't been doing much lately. I preordered a bunch of anime(wolf's rain, sailor moon season 3, ai yori aoshi enishi, gungrave). I've been playing the kof's like crazy for the next vid. Also recently got into Advance Wars 2 although I still like Metal Marines a lot more which I also started playing again.

If it's anything close to advance wars it can't be bad. Also... aren't you a little too old/straight to be watching Sailor Moon ;D

lol Probably Metal Marines is indeed a snes strategy game(there was a pc version too though). It's more intense then advance wars since it is realtime. You basically have your island and the enemy island dueling to see who can blow up each others bases first. You can be attacked at any time so you really have to think fast and build your units wisely although some luck is also involved.

been playin' the old AoF. the Bonus Games are really cool (bottle cut and ice break) haven't played Toshinden even once in my lifetime, and i think the time Toshinden came was the time i though Playstation was some kind of kid's toy (i was totally ignorant on gaming that time, with the exception of NES and NES games). i did get into PS (and figured out what it was ) when i saw Castlevania: SotN and FFVII (i belive those are the 1st 2 games i've played on the PS). since then i've bought myself a PS and got into a lot of games. heck even the time combined on every game i played on other systems they still wouldn't match the gametime i've spent on PS!. just by thinking about it brings me fond memories of FFVII, FFVIII, Castlevania: SotN, Alundra, Tekken 3, FFT, Metal Gear Solid, Tales of Destiny, etc.... (i'd state like 40 or so more but i'm too lazy to do that right now). when it comes down to it, i've been thinkin of modding my PS2 again so that i can play old PS games!

Dude I just have to state that i've played and love all those games, it seemed nobody else i knew was diggin Alundra but i thought it was sweet ;D Btw, i like the way you mentioned ff7 & 8 but not 9, just cause i think 9 is crap If you still like rpg's though your missing out on a crutial series, Suikoden 1 & 2 by Konami. Playing them is a must, dl the iso's if you have to. Suikoden is something any rpg fan that owns a PS should never miss out on.

Playing them is a must, dl the iso's if you have to. Suikoden is something any rpg fan that owns a PS should never miss out on. never got to play the suikoden, but from the sound of it being good at all, i'll give it a try once i get my PS2 modded (again). the only Konami rpg i've tried was Vandal Hearts II. though it's pretty good, it's no FFTactics (which i was, at the time, giving some serious gametime). i really got into my cousin's copy of Alundra but never got to finish it because he wanted it back since they're moving. shame that i haven't found another copy in any store here though . FFVII, FFT and FFVIII are the FFs that i spent 100+hours on (i've had way too much time on my hands back then ) while FFIX...played my friend's copy for a couple of hours and haven't really got interested in it. i've read in game mags that it's sweet, but to me it doesn't even rate more than an hour's attention. damnit playstation is my most memorable console ever! too bad i don't feel the same for PS2...

the only Konami rpg i've tried was Vandal Hearts II. though it's pretty good, it's no FFTactics I actually purchased Vandal Hearts 2 because of my love for FF Tactics but i was sadly disapointed. Though it had pretty sprites/artwork the gameplay sucked ass. Anyways, Suikoden 1 & 2 are not even comparable to VH 2. I've seen Suikoden 3 for the ps2 in action but i was certianly not impressed enough to try it out. Just another great 2d series turned to poo in 3d... RIP. The PS1 did have alot more memorable games, my PS2 was stolen and i dought i'll buy another one unless Sammy-SNKP releases an astounding game exclusively for it.
