As long as Choaniki isn't mentioned it's ok. haven't played the shooter version, but it might come up in my "fave shooter" list if i did get to play it (along with complementary muscley, beefy, well-oiled screenshots of the thong wearing bodybuilder twins) ;D

I just bought myself a Japan import of Radiant Silvergun and quite frankly, I don't need any other shooter, it just rocks! so my top 5 would be: 1.Radiant Silvergun 2. Thunder force V 3. R-type Final 4. Ikaruga 5. Soukyogurentai Hey flan_man, Daaren told me you're a big shooter fan! We are going to get along just fine!

Hey flan_man, Daaren told me you're a big shooter fan! We are going to get along just fine! LOL I've been importing quite a few shooters as of late. And your top five is the same as mine so that's a good start indeed.

Have you tried Donpachi and Assault suit Leynos 2? I was wondering if they were worth buying
I recently received Sonic Wings special, I was a little disapointed, I was hopping to play Sonic wings, 1 - 2 and 3 separatly and not a complete remix of them all. Nice game though

I didn't play Donpachi yet, only its sequel Dodonpachi. If I have to believe the reviews, both games are just as frantic. I was slightly disappointed with the conversion job of Dodonpachi on the Saturn. It does have a tate mode, but that involves you putting the television on its side in order to enjoy it fully. Unfortunately my television doesn't handle such positions well so I had to restrict myself to the normal mode. A shame that this mode doesn't offer any customisation when it comes to screen layout. Luckily enough the gameplay is still there. I'll have to check out this Assault Suit Leynos. The shmup sites that I visit don't list it. Is it a pure shmup or a mixed genre?

Does anyone know where I can get a freeware version of Defender from, or even an emulator that runs it properly? For some reason mame won't allow you to turn the spaceship around without using a firebutton. Doh!

here's a bump for this old topic! startin' to enjoy shumps right now, especally Strikers 1945 shump series, ever since my best friend got into it. shumps like these are pure madness i tell you! even though me and my friend are about the same level of skill, i suppose she'll become way better than me as time passes, seeing that she's totally into it and, as i'm typing this, she's still playing first puzzlers, now this?

it seems to me that Strikers 1945 series is the most common shooter in this area. from mall arcades to stand-alone arcades down to ghettos and squatters area... it's as if the rule is if you're going to have your own arcade, you must have a version of Street Fighter II and Strikers 1945 or else it won't be called an arcade! ;D can't blame em since both are played a lot by both the young and old, and the fact that the owner gets a hefty profit from running these games.
