Doom was'nt truly 3d though. duh like doom 2 and the ultimate doom but people can we not talk about Doom games because thats what the Columbine shooter's like most for a game and every time some one says Doom 2 (or any doom game) they remind me of them!!!! (those kinds would've sure been happy if they'd stay alve long enough for Doom 3)

The whole doom causing kids to kill topic is a load of bollocks.
If an individual displays the weakness to be influenced to kill from a totally unrealistic pixel em up should never of been allowed to watch tv let alone use interactive media.
If people are that easy to have the message of 'kill all your schoolmates' then what the hell have they been playing.
It was all down to bullying and the whole popularity ladder that is the deciding force as to wether you leave school a bitter individual and then go on to develop conditions just because you think that nobody understands you.
Leave it to the real people who suffer from random psycotic rages like me to get the blame.

Doom is just so outlandish I don't see how anyone could take it seriously.

agreed with Raiken.
I mean, Wolfenstein had a much more believable (sorta) story, and you shot at people instead of demons. But wait: its okay because it was Nazis;;;
Yet doom is the one that gets all the rap.

^ Yeah, infact Doom always gets the credit for being the first fps when Wolfenstien came out before it dammit! I suppose i'm messed up for saying this but i'd rather play a simulation for killing nazi's then lame floating demon heads. I think that the Columbine stuff though would have been blamed on any negative/gun relating thing those boys enjoyed.

Wolfenstein was ok, but I think a good FPS was "Blakestone" it had really awesome weapons, and came out either before or really close to the time Wolfenstein did.

If it wasn't doom then it would be porn to blame.

If it wasn't doom then it would be porn to blame. there's always something or somebody to blame when it comes to violence like the columbine incident, but no external entities should be blamed for such an event for the PARENTS are not doing a good job raising their kid. such people always point fingers to someone or something to hide their own incompetence, that's why there are ineffective lawsuits against videogame violence. hello? what's the content rating for? (like if a game features mild violence, it's labeled "Teen" and ultraviolence are labeled "Mature". forgot the name of what these ratings are called). it's protected by any First Amendment of constitutional law for crying out loud! what are they against the constitution anyways? whew! i've been reading too much law books...

Holy smokes, i remember that now, it came out a while after wolfenstien. I remember playing it at some kids house due to my sucky pc (that barely ran wolfenstien) back in the day marveling over its greatness
