Hey all.
Okay, so as a shooter fan, I'm positive that I'll have to be buying R-Type Final for the PS2, but I'm stuck at work, so it will be a while until I can slip out to buy a copy. From what I can see, it looks incredible-- 101 total ships to unlock, I really can't wait to play it. So this isn't really a 'should I buy it?' post, it's an 'I'm impatient and I want to compulsively discuss it' post.
So, anybody have it and care to comment on its qualities, or give your opinions about it?
Regards, --B. Kai

Holy crap, Gradius V is released in the US on 2/18! Wednesday! Ugh, now I'm truly done for. I fear I'll need to call out sick from work.
Now that you mention the T-word, I have to say, somehow I've managed to miss all Treasure shooters with the exception of Ikaruga by casual inaction. I remember it well: "Yup, Radiant Silvergun? Looks great, but I'll hold out and get it next week. They'll still have a few copies left at the import store. Right?". A few years later and it's selling for $500US on eBay. Sheesh, I even missed Bangaioh, it's sad to say.
Whoa, where did THAT rant come from?

r-type was and is one of my fav arcade shooters of all time...the 2nd one was pretty good too....r-type leo wasn't that good so in my opinion thy should have left r-type alone as it doesn't need another sequel....... hullcityfcmad

I'll be checking this one out as soon as it hits the stores here. Right now I'm adding to my Saturn shoot 'm up collection. About Radiant Silvergun: A few years later and it's selling for $500US on eBay. It's not that dramatic yet. 150 bucks will do

hullcityfcmad, I agree about leo. Not sure what in particular you disliked, but I thought the difficulty was set a little too low for what I expected. I got Final the other day, but haven't had a chance to try it to see if the problem's the same, but with what, 7 difficulty levels, it can't be that bad.
flan_man, I'll have to keep an eye out for RS. I remembered it being high the last time I shopped for it, and $150 is still a little steep, but I guess it's not that bad.

The best thing to do indeed is to check regularly on the auctions. The powersellers often abuse the cult status of the game by bumping the price tag right from the start and adding a reserve. I was a bit lucky to fall upon a new seller with zero feedback, so he still had to attract customers with a lower price. I also made sure he was based in the UK, which scares off most US buyers. In the end I got it for about $ 120, well worth the price imo.
