I just had to post this quote from somebody in the neo-geo.com forums cause it's pretty damn funny and so true. Haha, yes very true! Eiji still rules though I;d agree with what both of you said more or less, but it's really hard to tell from those vids. Man I can't wait until we see some proper vids/screenshots! Also really curious about how good the music is - someone on neo-geo.com said it sounded good but it was hard to tell at the test with all the background noise. 2003 had a good soundtrack, so hopefully this will be at least as good. just seen the video. the game looks cool, but i really can't believe how bland the backgrounds are. i thought kof 2001 and 2002 were bad in that respect but given they're on the old mvs i wasn't too precious about it. i think that alone explains why snk were really strict about photos and videos being taken...

I think the backgrounds in the KOF games have gotten worse and worse from 2000 on. They are just so boring and don't have the same "charm" as the backgrounds from the older games. KOF 94 and 95 had some of the best backgrounds to ever grace a KOF if you ask me.

^i quite agree, one of the fun things about KOF were the cameos and the obscure yet cool places they fought in,, best examples are... AOF team stage 95! Chizuru stage 96! and my fave... Japan team 94!

Well, i'll just keep hoping for things to get better. Really, not just the bg's have gone down in quality since kof 2000 imo. After what i experienced with 2003 i just wish that SNKP would just make a new Garou game and stop trying to turn Kof into the fast paced Garou gameplay. Melded together they make one crappy mess of a game imo.

They need to take KOF back to it's roots. Detailed backgrounds, the characters that we all love, and of course, the gameplay needs to go back to the way it was in...oh...say '98. That would be perfect.

So what you’re saying is that SNKP should just re-release KOF98? Personally, I like the new characters and the new style of KOF. It gives a new touch the style of KOF. KOF98 was good, but not perfect. A lot of the backgrounds were lacking in some areas, especially the moving boat stage and the Spain stage. The gameplay was gave me this “wow another KOF97 with the USA team” feeling. I see no reason for one King of Fighters being based around an old King of Fighters almost a decade ago.
You can live in that golden age of the King of Fighters dream match. I like a KOF that’s new and different.

I didn't mean the WHOLE thing should go back to the way it was in '98, just the gameplay. It was a very VERY balanced game. But the backgrounds in the games nowadays are just boring. But I will admit, some of the new characters are pretty cool. I love Ash and Duo Lon.

I love Ash and Duo Lon. yeah i totally agree with you regarding that. even up to now, i still play kof '98 once in a while. i find kof '98 to have the best fighting system of all the kof games. the newer ones feel kinda "light". the old-school backgrounds are also WAY better than those offered in the kof games this decade. they just have more small but really nice fun nuances and a bit of life... i do hope kof 11 tries to be BETTER than this, so that we can have a new classic on our hands

Yeah, I hope KOF 11 makes good on the backgrounds and better music. Maybe re-mixing older tracks or something like that. And maybe, just MAYBE, some new sprites.

I think their is 1 screen somewhere that is really fuzzy and a couple vids. but they are horrible as well. My suggestion is to just wait for something clear and don't bother searching. Their are rumors though that the next Arcadia (i think it's 63) will have some info on it.
