Word is, that a KOF 2000 and 2001 pack will be released this fall for plyastation 2.
Now what i want to know is, is Playmore/SNK going to keep with the censorship bullshit that plagued the american DC games?
While it isn't a huge deal for KOF, the censorship of games like Last Blade 2 on dreamcast made the american version way too tame and also even took away from parts of the game. Mark of the wolves was bloodless as well.
Why does SNK feel the need to censor these games? Though i know that Last blade 2 probably would have gotten an M rating, the ratings today really mean jack and it wouldn't have hurt its sales too bad.
probably by next year, we should have definte releases of SvC chaos and Sam. showdown 0 for Playstation 2. If either of these come over here censored than i will not buy the local versions, plain and simple. Though i'm pretty sure that will mean a M rating for showdown, SvC can easily still get a Teen rating since Guilty Gear X has tons of blood and got a teen rating.

Yeah, it does seem a bit dumb in this day and age to censor stuff like that... I don't think Playmore will do it with their PS2 titles, but we'll have to wait and see.
One thing I'll tell you that is dumb... Matrimelee has censored music in US mode... all the tracks with lyrics are taken out. Now that REALLY sucks for US home cart owners as they can't do anything without a developers bios, but at least MVS owners can get around it one way or another.

I've heard that SvC has minimal bounce ;D, but I think as far as arcade games are concerned, they will probably keep the games slightly different whether it's censorship or playable characters etc. Isn't that something to do with like local licenses and stuff? Like no use of Japanese products in the US and stuff like that?

My guess is that since Playmore is essentially the same people SNK was that not too much will change when It comes to censorship. Unless maybe it is easier to port it over without any censored material like the Japanese games.
Judging from the purple blood in Sengoku 3 , my guess is nothing will change. Im not sure if all the Sengoku 3 regions had purple blood ? but I think they may have ?
Anyone who has a non U.S. Sengoku 3 care to comment on this ?

Do you know how pissed i would be if i had the american matrimelle cart with no lyrics?
WTF
and sengoku 3 had all sorta blood (RED) on my rom.
God, snk needs to get its shit together on this. Censorship is not something i will tolerate. I want ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND BLOOD at the same time, not one or the other!

censorship will stay, SNKP is afraid to piss off the conservative american public...they'll play it safe and have people bleed sweat. Its easier than a recall or paying for an "M" stamp on the neo home carts. unless of course you have MVS...

thank the gods that i came here before going out and getting an AES system.
So with mvs, i could say...play matrimelle with english, and still have all the lyrics/blood? Same with games like last blade and sam showdown

Hehe, yeah, it's like they are in an invisible cast, well at least for the US region.
As for the Matrimelee question, I don't believe you can have the Japanese track and English language at the same time. It's just that you can switch between regions with a certain bios, choosing Japan or US, etc.

It is possible to do it - if you have a Euro MVS board, you don't even need a uni-bios to get English language AND the Japanese music tracks. All you do is go to the soft dipswitches and change the country region to "USA" (it is set to "others" by default). Do that and you are sorted . If you have an MVS with a US bios, you'll need to get a uni-bios so that you can switch to Euro mode. Anybody with an MVS should get a uni-bios anyway, as it is more than worth it imho Sengoku 3 never really had totally red blood from what I remember... I could be wrong though. As for games like Samurai Shodown and Last Blade, if you have an MVS there is an option you can change on the dipswitches that enables red blood/fatalities... it's usually just labelled as "blood: on/off" or "Cruel fight: on/off". If you have the home cart of SS2 there is a little trick you can use to enable blood, and I think there are sometimes codes in certain games (NOT ALL) that enable blood or bouncy breats in KoF. If anybody needs any more advice on this let me know Kaz

None of the U.S. Samurai Showdown games are censored on the MVS, You can turn the blood off in the soft dip if you wanted to though. Its too bad every game doesnt have this kind of option Heh I just realised that Kaz said the same thing in his post

lol The only american KOF that had minimal bounce was 94 and you could still enable it with code. Dunno why the hell they'd take it out of a game like this when it was in the CvS games.

I'm sure some other KOF games have minimal bounce in US mode too... I know a few other things are censored as well... eg: Whips gun (apparently). Kaz
