Ok, so I've heard the term "shoto" and the term "grappler" etc. to describe fighting game characters. Anyways, I was playing my KOF98 when it struck me.
What the heck kind of characters are Heidern, Lucky Glauber, and Brian Battler?
Brian Battler "may" be a grappler, but he doesn't seem to have that many throws/grabs. How would you describe these odd characters?

Heidern has his own little custom thing goin on, there's not 1 term to describe him imo. As for Lucky & Brian are have some bs sport related moves & are what you could call "fillers". They don't really bring much to the table and could have been left out of 98 & nobody would be complaining ;D

Heidern is an odd case. He has a fireball but also a weird style of charge moves. Same goes for his supers. His oddness makes him a good character IMO and he can absorb his opponents health too which doesn't hurt. As for the others I agree with Goemon. I just use them as punching bags. ;D

Yup, Heidern is one of a kind, you can´t describe him with just a single Word! He´s just got everything. I remember his "Go to Hell!!!". ;D
I didn´t care too much about the Sports Team either!

Well, Heidern is a charger...like Guile and Vega(m.bison i n the west).Charge moves. But some of his moves are auto grabbers so it may look as if he's some sort of cross over to a grabbler. But basicly he's just a charge character. As for lucky and that Brian baboon.......those are a waste of cart space and should never have been made for KOF.

Thanks, interesting...
I never really cared for the sports team, but what really annoys my friends is that I am so darn good with them. I rarely play them on my own, but against a friend, its fun to chuck basketballs at them every once in a while.
Yeah, definetly a waste of cart space for 98 though, especially when they could have put in the boss team or Goenitz...

how about Yamazaki? he isn't a total keep-away character nor a big grappler. where's he classified into?

Yamazaki is another original character thats got his on technique going on, he's not all together a grappler but his moves have mostly a get in somewhat close & and rip your enemy to shreds thing goin on. I remember when i first started playin kof games i never wanted to try him and thought he was weird & lame but eventually i came to appreciate & really like his unique style of fighting.
