Alright folks, we need to finally get something goin on this subject ;D We need to decide the official emu for the tourney (i use nebula but we may have to use kawaks for some of our members with less desireable pc's) Though the ping will probly suck but me must deal with it anyways cause this project needs to happen.
Anways after we decide what official emu one of us can simply start a server, arrange a certian time, post an ip, & we can get to playin from there i suppose.
Everybody interested post to let meh know and we'll try to organize this mofo.

I am interested. Though I have some emu issues.
Nebula is a very good emulator, and runs smoother than Kawaks on my computer, although... I have a strange problem when trying to play using it online.
I will start a game, it will load the rom etc etc. Then, once it fully loads, and comes on screen, it disconnects the opposing player. This is not coincedence, as it has happened every time I have tried using it online. I have even tried different versions of nebula on my different computers. I'm cursed.
Anyways: I propose Kawaks. To be specific, I propose Kawaks 1.45, because for some reason, 1.46 and 1.47 also don't work correctly online, though this time it gives me "illegal operation" notices, and forces me to quit.
Mame32 works fine for me (any version), though I would have to install it again, no big deal I guess.

Well if you can handle nrx you can surely handle atleast kawaks & mame32 on low settings. For instance lastblade 2 which me and darckshneider where talkin about playin, maybe since i think we all have broadband can arrange to get teh rom from the same place. I got my lastblade 2 from planetemu, its always up with all the roms we'd need & good bandwith to boot. Maybe we should arrange to get our roms from there to make sure we all have the same sets, it would be worth it imo for the sake of some good times.

Sounds like a plan, Goemon. Just for the tournament and only for the people playing in the tourny. I could upload some emu and game that everyone can get to play with the matching games for the tournament. If that is an option i will do so. I'm up for the tournament. PS: Stickified!!!!!!!

count me in.....if we all use kawaks were likely to have the same romsets anyway....the things that cause the lag and desync are the different versions,i say stick to 1.46hacked version and peoples own personal settings they use,eg scanlines, triple buffer etc etc.if we can all come to some agreement on settings that would be cool. ps.gotta have a variation of games too....should have a vote on what games.(not all fighting games!!) hullcityfcmad

I think that is a great idea, and an idea that would probably make this thing more organized/ people could practice/ well yeah, I'm pro this.
I saw something interesting on kaillera few months ago. I saw 6 people playing KOF98. According to them, after they finished: their version of Mame32, or something they got on that site, allowed them to do 3 vs 3, with each person playing as one character. If anyone knows anymore info on this, (if they weren't faking it) I think this could be fun.

Im in as long as the lag isnt to bad. I know on kaillera it sucks even though I have a cable modem. I would love to kick but in svc and samsho 5. I will have my ass handed to me in kof2k2 though. You should try oldie but goodies like windjammers to.

It's not a bad idea at all... I don't think any of us can find decent competition where we live (if you even have arcades... I don't ), so this is gonna be the next best thing, even though I will get owned on a lot of these games most likely The only prob is making sure everyone has the same romset and emulator, but we'll also need to make sure we can all get into a decent server that isn't gonna lag too badly for us. I remember playing a friend ages ago, and it took us about half an hour just to find a half decent server that *both* of us could get into... and even then there was still a bit of lag. Uploading a game for others to grab sounds like a good idea, but remember not to post any links in here, you'll have to do it privately or something. Windjammers does sound like a great idea, that game is fun! Kaz

It will be kind of a pain with the whole server thing, also with living in different countries i'm pretty sure already that we'd get some not so favorable ping along with the fact that we must decide who'd be in the best position to start a server & make a date and time to play & how to go about getting the ip to everyone.
About the rom compadability issue, as i mentioned before planet emu has all the classics that work so we could decide what game we want for that certian day & have all of us get it from there. Also ukyo, are you sure you'd rather play samsho5 over SS2 & 4... I've actually already deleted it, seems kinda akward to play something that mashes the 2 styles together imo when they are so perfect in their own seperate ways.

I'd almost suggest sticking to the classics (IE: what the emu normally supports) for simplicity, also just because of the differences in DATs, zipnames, and roms of the more recent roms. (IE: SVCplus vs SVCnormal vs SVCplus with the bosses unlocked etc.) This may not be the greatest idea, but perhaps we have two servers? One for US, and one for Europe? Second thought: Nah, I wanna fight Kaz. I've had some decent fights with pings of 100-110, and before I had a cable modem, I used to beat some people on a French server, while I had pings upwards of 220 For our first game: may I suggest the game that started this discussion: Last Blade 2.

i'd actually make it a monthly tournament....announce the game at the start(obviously),let people have a week maybe two to practice then let the games begin!! ,make a draw of all the participants and let them arrange between themselves when they want to play....this way we shouldn't have too many probs with time difference.there could be a thread for each tournament and the winner of each match could post the result of their match and then when all the results are in the draw for the following round could be made until a final is reached and there is a winner(and loser-runner up). btw....gotta have a turf masters tourney!!!!! ;D hullcityfcmad(at work...tut tut!!) ;D
