I like the new backrounds (though i do find the train level below par) this year, the desert, japan, & aztec levels all look quite nice. The house in the backround of the train level looks so awful, if i where going through all the trouble of making a snazzy train why get lazy and not detail the house more. I know its farther in the back and all but there's still no excuse not to add a little more spice to make some of the bg's look equally good all over. Anyways, more than the new bg's or characters im most excited to check out the new gameplay.... finally a more indepth sequel and not just an expansion pack ;D

Hella nice! the train looks cool ;D also the Japan stage now, i want the rom more badly imo, 2k3 will bring new depth to the kof series... not just gameplaywise, but also the storyline... anyway, anyone have info on the BG music? is it like 99-2k1? (techno-ish), or 96-98? (rock-ish) or like SVC? (Classical-ish) i hope the music is like Mslug 5 or SS5, in terms of great composition

They really need to get Noise Factory in there on the job to be responsible for the KOF sound. I have no doubt that it will bring a whole new refreshing wave of tunes that overrule the older classics.

(Classical-ish) i hope the music is like Mslug 5 or SS5, in terms of great composition I've seen a ton of videos and some of the music is nice, while some is a bit average. It is not on the same level as KOF 99 (which is my personal fave for music), but from what I can tell it is somewhere between KOF 2002 and KOF 96. Not as good aas we might have hoped, but not bad. Need to hear it properly to make a real judgement though. I want to see NF's studio aqua handle the KOF music, but I doubt there's be enough room to fit their type of OST on a NG cart, as all the characters etc take up most of the cart space in a KOF game. Maybe if KOF moves to other hardware they will be given the job... and there brand of music would probably be in a much higher quality than it is on the Neo Geo. Whichever way, I'd be happy to have either Sammy's or Noise's studios doing the soundtrack in future, as it would no doubt kick ass! Kaz

You better not say that! *holds hand back in slaping position* ;D Seriously though, the backrounds look decent,(about kof2k quality imo) but for christ sakes they're not that good. (I feel like im taking crazy pills! I don't see what looks so good, they just plain don't look as nice as kof 98/99 bg's!) Some of the characters may look closer to garou this year but thats about it.

Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as to say that they were MotW quality... they are very good in terms of the art and everything, but the animation won't be as fluid, from what I hear it is better than previous KoF's in places, but not exactly a quantum leap in quality. I agree that the backgrounds look pretty great in general though, but again I have seen better in other KoF games. I'd say they are higher quality than KOF 2000 to be honest, but KOF 99 is still the best in that respect (see the raning courtyard stage ). Kaz

But what about the endings? The KOF99 ones didn't make a lot of sense, they were short, and in my opinion, just not that good. (Athena and Takuma die? WTF)
Then again, I didn't care too much for the music in '99. My fav. all around kof is 2000.
