Ok, so now I assume that most have you have played Matrimelee by now... either by owning the home ir MVS cart, or maybe even by "other" methods. I'm just wondering what you all think of the game so far. I'm very happy with what I have seen so far by checking it out on an emulator, and I can't wait until my cart gets here... which hopefully isn't going to be too long. The music is excellent, the animation is a step up from RotD (and there's some awesome special effects), and the gameplay seems a lot more solid too. The only thing that annoys me a little is that the backstage backgrounds (where you fight the RotD characters) look a little ropey compared to the other stages, and I am having massive problems with beating Princess Sissy at the moment... I'm actually having more problems with her than I do Johann (who I can beat 90% of the time now). Anyways, what do you guys think? Also, feel free to post any cool stuff you have found, cool special moves/combos, or anything else. Also, does anyone have any good tactics for beating Sissy? I've managed to beat her once so far, but I think I'm gonna need a lot more practice before I can beat her consistently. I think playing it on a real Neo Geo stick will help me though... using a pad on these games really sucks as I'm not used to it at all anymore. I'll get this started off - here's a couple of codes to enable extra characters: For the RotD characters: At the Matrimelee character select screen, input the following: UP, UP, UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT Enable Princess Sissy (home mode only): Press and hold A+B+C+D right after choosing any character... continue to hold until the vs screen and your character should have changed to Princess Sissy. Have fun Kaz

ok at first when i saw the chacters i was really impressed and still am.The programmers really gave as a mix of fighting styles which is always refreshing. For a 16 bit system the graphics are tolerable. As for the sound/music it was eerie, bizarre and just fucking creepy. game play wise its ok,it's no garow but playable.i used to think rotd suck but this took the icing on the cake.I believe the best games for the neo have already been made garow, ssd series, kof 97-99,LB series and the mother of all shooter METAL SLUG 1-3. For those that e going to get the cart or mvs replace think about what you are doing , dont let your love for the neo blind you ,this game is simply not worth 300$ period. But for some strange reason i still cont to play it . For those that think i am negative, i am just writing what you weren’t bold enough to inscribe. like i said SVC will be the testament for "OUR" neo.

I'm confused as to whether you like the game or not? You said it was "ok gameplay wise", then said you "thought RotD sucked but this one takes the biscuit"? Not sure what you really mean Anyways, I guess whether you like the game a lot will depend on your liking of Japanese culture also the general craziness of the game. If you like whacky games like Waku Waku 7 that have a "bizarre" sense of humour then you'll enjoy it a lot. If not, it all depends on whether you can get into the gameplay or not... if you are not a RotD fan, then you might not enjoy it (even though it does play a LOT better than RotD overall). Having said that I have seen even some of the most ardent RotD and Playmore haters warm to this game a lot over the past few days. Before I played the rom I had the game on order but I hadn't actually sent payment for it ($220 for the MVS cart), but after trying the game I sent payment straight away. I really enjoyed it and it is definitely worth the cash in my opinion. Guess it just depends on your tastes... to each his own Still gotta figure a 100% way to beat that bitch Sissy... someone help, she is giving me a headache even though I have managed to win a couple of times now (both with Keith). So far it seems pretty fun...it's definately a different game though. I could really use a move list to help get a taste for the style of the game. Princess Sissy is so ridiculously difficult though...typical SNK. I haven't been able to beat her yet with anyone, although I've only played with Keith, Reiji, Poochy, and Clara (is that her name?).
Its fun, but ROTD had much less of a learning curve and this game would probably turn off those who tried to get into the Neo for the first time.

I posted a moves list in the other Matrimelee thread, although the names of the moves/characters are in Japanese: kazuyauk.proboards15.com/index.cgi?board=emulation&action=display&thread=1058034694When I get the cart, it is supposed to be a full kit, which means I'll have moves stickers with it as well... if you guys want I can scan those in for you. They will probably be missing a few moves though (most of the moves stickers are), but it might help a little until a full FAQ gets released. Kaz

I laughed my ass of the first time i played it. The soundtrack is a instant classic on any system. The alien song.....jeeeez ;D I tell you, that friggin mall song with the 3 singers in the back.....it keeps playing in my mind during the day,AAARRRGGG,and i was walking around in town today, all the time that friggin catchy cheesy J-POP tune. And the cool songs...REALLY SOUND FRIGGIN COOL.chills running down my spines. Me go get soundtrack of this game very soon, i go get it from internetorder....i engrish talk now. The gameplay is solid, easy to come into and has a retro style of gameplay like Breakers,Garou and Capcoms SF2. And yet, practising a lot on it,you can pull of massive combos that zap away lots of life...very cool. The grafics are very nicely done, especialy the effects on the hypers and specials. Even the ROTD charas feel different...more mature and hard core. Sissy is indeed a pain in tha royal buttox. Has anyone also noticed that the spirit...yes that all stopping, always first priority, making sissy even invincible from fireballs passing right thru her bastard, is non other then Abubu the mid boss from ROTD. ;D

Anyways, about the language problem. Get a uni-bios... seriously. Even if it isn't just for Matrimelee, you should get it for all your other games. Check bios.cps2shock.com for more details if you haven't seen it yet... you can download it from there and burn it onto your own eeprom if you have the equipment, or just buy one from Raz. That will let you change language and other settings VERY easily. If you need any more info, let me know. Seiryu: Yeah, I noticed that it was Abubo... it would be funny if that move didn't zap off so much of my life if I accidentally get hit by it ;D Kaz

So far I'm very pleased with it. I think the backgrounds and character design have had a bit more depth put into them then ROTD. The music is very nice(the song with a bunch fat guys singing heavy metal sticks in my mind). The internet song and alien songs are just friggin bizarre though ;D. If you watch the english opening of the internet song you'll see the words "subarashii intanetuto" which basically means wonderful internet.
I've only managed to beat the game once with clara but one really cheap tactic I got to work against sissy was to keep rolling behind her whenever she tried to smack me with that damn abubo look alike in the box. You basically roll behind her, punch her then immediatly roll behind her and repeat. This works until her stress charges up then you have to run away to avoid the blast. However if she already has three bars then she obviously won't charge up anymore and you can do it much longer. I killed her in a few seconds doing this.

Hi!!! ive been playing the game by "other methods" as Kaz nicely put... I happen to think the game is pretty cool, its a welcomed break from KOF 2k2. The graphics I think are pretty nice, and the animation is good too, I mean its no Garou: Mark of the Wolves, but its perfectly adequate. The sprites are pretty awesome too there some of the best sprites i've seen in a neo geo game for a long time, and I wish KOF would take a fresh graphical look. Enough of all the technical crap. I think the game style is totally awesome, but you need to apreciate japanese anime to like the style! now on to the charecters some are cool some are generic, some are wierd, but all of them are ripped fresh the japanese rule book of anime the cool: Chinnen: reminds me of crillin from DBZ Hikaru: Japanese school kid! Shintaro: Japanese teen (the coolest IMO) Saizo: Japanese ninja the Generic: Reiji: do we need another Ryu? White: a strong wrestler nuff said... Anny: the chick... The wierd: Ume: your nan... Kanji: your nana... Poochy: a human dog!! Tane: read ume... ********** play the game and see the rest******** The sound: heh, very cool... The games hit effects sound exactly the same as Rage Of The Dragons' and that's pretty standard stuff, but the music can be awe inspiring or the volume off type dependant on your preference, I like it though, cos im an anime fan (Princess Mononoke being my fave) and I like japan (call me a fanboy if u want... ) the music is typical J-pop and i like that!! I dont really need to go into any more detail then that... The Gameplay: This where the game looses itself a little... The game consists of the usual, combos (very simple ones though), special moves and counters. A nice abilty in this game is the fact you can double jump, thus alowing you to create a longer combo chain. There is alot of cheese in this game though, for example sissy can create rediculous combos and chains and playing the game on a high difficulty can become infuriating!! but that was before I learnt a cheap trick, if you jump in with a hard kick and then press C+D together you can produce a mega-powerful 2 hit combo. so the gameplay is basically fun, but shallow... Overall: I think should be valued on its strengths of sound and style, the game can be fun if your willing not to take the gameplay too seriously and arent too serious about your fighting games, only thing is though if you own a Neo-Geo or like the games most likely your going to like your fighting games, so its strange that matrimelee came out on the Neo-Geo... DEFINATELY GIVE IT A TRY!!! Kyo u rock!!! - - Kali Yuga show me the way!!

Jin: Nice post, I agree with a lot of the things you said. Although the gameplay isn't the greatest we have ever seen, I actually think it is pretty damn good though and there is a lot more variety to the characters/moves than there is in RotD. I still enjoy playing that game, but I think Matrimelee plays the way RotD should have. Kayato: Actually yeah, I think you are kinda right with the Garou thing, it seems that all people ever say these days is "oh well, this game really is no MotW". I guess it's inevitable though as that game is still probably the best looking game on the Neo Geo (and I think a lot of people actually only got into Neo Geo stuff because of that game). I'm not slagging anyone off for liking MotW as I totally love the game myself, but I wish some people would open their minds a little bit and not judge everything they play based on another game. Also, some of us did pay for the game... I am playing the roms right now admittedly, but I have already paid for my cart and it will be here soon... Kaz
