Gonzo + Gainax = high production value, and this also goes for Trinity Blood. Three groups battling it out: the Vatican, the Empire (the vampires), and the order of the Rozen Kreuz (if you have watched Chrno Crusade, then you know Gonzo has this thing for German references). The story revolves around the conflicts between these three groups, with the first episode introducing us to Abel Nightroad, a priest employed by the Vatican. The priest part is nothing more than a cover-up though, because our dearest Abel is blessed with some great powers: if vampires are a breed that feeds on mankind, then Abel is part from a breed that feeds on vampires. Abel also has some kind of magical level-up power (can you say Alucard from Hellsing?). Watch him in action during the first episode, where he powers up to 40 %, and you know that 100 % must be one hell of a bloody ride. Funimation has always been my most dispised anime company. They suck at subing, dubing and basically everything imo. I guess now we'll have to wait till crappy Funimation subs hit the net before we can finish the series... yay...

Man, Funimation should come out of its ivory tower. They really don't know what's good for them.

Yes. That's unfortuneate. But once again someone will sub it. I won't simply end there. Edit: While I doubt nobody will sub Basilsik now, it seems the groups I mentioned have been cornered unfairly. Look at this shit Funimation sent them. Hey there.
Just wanted to let you know formally that Basilisk and Samurai 7 have been licensed by Funimation Entertainment. We actually are a co-producer of both series with GONZO so our request is worldwide, not just English speaking territiories. MVM handle our European releases and Madman handles our Australia releases. Thank for your interest in the show but please drop the projects and support the commercial release of both shows.
I want to personally ask you before I send this to our legal department. Our legal department has years of experience with illegal Dragon Ball Z merchandise/bootlegs.
Thanks,
Lance Heiskell Funimation Entertainment Holy shit. Fuck you Funimation. Not only did you make an incredibly stupid marketing move by cutting off your chance to preview the anime to a potential market at others expense, you sent this unprofessional letter with a bunch of nonsense. I don't see your name in the credits of Basilisk so you have nothing to do with co-producing it, you do not cover a worldwide area, and here's a bootleg of the entire dragonball series on ebay so your years of experiance isn't worth shit. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=617&item=6404711869&rd=1#ebayphotohostingYou tards couldn't find water if you were fish. I'd be mistaken to say I will stop buying anime from Funimation but things like this aren't discouraging people from the notion of how you guys are dumbasses.[/rant]

I don't even need to search for a group that will keep subbing it since I know the fastest group to release the series doesn't give a shit about licenses. The katana group? By now Funimation must have sent them a request to stop subbing, just like they did with anime-kraze. I wonder what their answer will be... The IY4ever half of the katana joint at least will not care because they are a european group so US licenses do not affect them. While the current torrents have been removed due to their location at a US address it's unsure what both groups will do yet. I'd probably know sooner if some idiot hadn't caused a ruckus in the thread regarding this and made the damn mods lock it One way or another someone will sub it. The Madlax incident from awhile ago is a good example of such an issue.

I'm just gonna be a bastard and say this never stops me ;D Buying FUNimation DVD's Raiken? ADV...ok....but FUNimation...come on *whisper* DBZ dubbing... I'll bet there's a subbing group out there who totally shits on FUNimation's head. You just gotta search good enough. Actually I meant I'm going to keep watching the fansubs ;D I probably won't buy this unless the ending surprises me. Funimation has actually gotten a lot better since it's early days in that they offer japanese languages on their releases. I don't even need to search for a group that will keep subbing it since I know the fastest group to release the series doesn't give a shit about licenses.

Craps. At least they could have waited a bit longer, but they probably jumped on the samurai theme and thought it would sell well in the US. Oh well, moving on...

Though their is some rediculous stuff that goes on in this anime it isn't done in a cheezy way so i'm really starting to like this one. Examples? You mean like the attitude from the fat guy who wants to make out with one of the Iga women? I just finished watching episodes 6 and 7, and this story is really getting interesting. It's deception upon deception. One character may think he has everything under control, but then suddenly the tables are turned around completely. And then there is the "loves makes blind" theme, which is played out perfectly. Okoi is one hot anime chick too. I love it how they play her voluptuous shape out and make it seem as if she's just there waiting to be abused. But in Basilisk nothing is what it seems. btw, episode 5... when you watched that, you must have thought about the Ninja Scroll movie, right? I think there was some tribute paid here.

Can you fill me in more to the whole philosophy of it Flan? It all just seems a bit basic from what i can tell. I really wanna like this show. There is a bit of history behind the "let's fight and kill each other" premise. At one point in history, the Shogun wanted to choose a successor for his title, but he had a hard time choosing between the two candidates at hand. The solution he came up with was to have the two clans (Kouga and Iga) that were represented by the candidates fight each other. A list was made, with ten names from each clan. The clan that would go through the other's list first, would see its candidate become the new Shogun. This clan battle didn't start because at the last moment a truce was achieved. A fragile truce. It didn't take much too hard to destabilise it, which is exactly what happens during the anime. And then it's time to try and kill the people that are on the list. The clan battles aren't the centerpiece though. The love between Gennosuke from Kouga and Oboro from Iga is. Since they are from opposing clans, you would say that their destiny is to kill each other. But maybe their love will bring the two clans together? Thanks, i've watched the first five episodes and i got things down very well i think. Though their is some rediculous stuff that goes on in this anime it isn't done in a cheezy way so i'm really starting to like this one.
