disagree... Art of Fighting, World Heroes etc etc... they are all old games from that "era", and although they are dated now it was all part of the evolutionary process for SNK... so without those we wouldn't have the newer games. And for the record I still play World Heroes, Fatal Fury 1 etc etc... I guess you just needed to be around back in the day to appreciate them properly - and I've been into Neo stuff since more or less day one
I'd say things for SNK really kicked into gear in 1993 with Samurai Shodown, and then SNK went from being a good developer into a spectacular one when they released Samurai Shodown 2 and KOF 94 ;D

couldn't agree with you more. to say fatal fury 1 is shite because its not garou:motw is just anacronistic not to mention unfair. ture, aof, ff1 etc might seem locked in their time, but i still play them now and again and they arn't bad at all when you consider when they were made and what else was on offer back then.
though i would disagree with kaz about when snk really started to shine, as i'd put it around '95. i mean samurai shodowns 1 &2, kof94, fatal fury special, all inspired moments of genius but it wasn't until kof95 and the first real bout did snk pull its socks up and the consistency of the games made between 95 and 99 is pretty amazing when you think about it.
as for lame games, magician lord isn't too bad just, a bit too simple. same with league bowling which while fun has all the longenvity of the amount of time it takes to prepare a curry at your local takeaway.
legend of success joe is laughably terrible, even by 1990 standards as is spinmaster, but to their credit, i have played a lot worse on other systems. but i think for a lot of that time snk were simply playing around with the hardware and game ideas to see what's hot and what's not.
