I'm useless at a lot of games, but I have finished AOF1 on level 8 difficulty a good few times (probably due to a mis-spent youth where I spent more time at the arcades than school 
)... the CPU AI is predictable usually and once you know how it's not so bad...
AOF2 is another matter...
