Nah the surprise was the Matrix Online thing iirc, and the only other thing that was revealed was the Sammy merger... there wasn't anything else. Anybody waiting for a new Sega console will have a long wait (try eternity

Personally I'd say that the GBA is your best best now, although the NGPC could never be considered a bad buy in any way (aside from the lack of new games for it). There's still plenty of classic games out there, many can be bought reasonably cheap, and it *still* has the best controller of any handheld out there... especially for fighters.
I love my GBA SP, but it is a bit uncomfortable to hold (a little bit more than the standard GBA). Other than that it's a brilliant machine with some great games, and there are more on the way. Depends on what sort of games you like playing though?
