I didn't answer because I'm not entirely sure on the differences with the PSU's on the home console as I'm more of an arcade/MVS guy myself. I couldn't tell you off hand what voltage the Neo Geo PSU is, but it should tell you near to the power supply what voltage should be plugged in, and if it's too high then you could possibly damage the system. 
Best idea is to pop over to neo-geo.com and ask on the tech support forum there, as someone will definitely know the answer there... unless any of the AES owners here know the answer?
