As far as I am aware, that is correct. Those 3 also had a special ending if you picked them on KOF '96 for the Neo Geo CD (don't think you can get it to happen on the cart though). I did read a forum thread once a long time ago on neo-geo.com that explained the WHOLE of the story and was very in depth, so you might want to go over there and do a search to see if you can dig it up... if not, ask as I know of a couple of guys over there who know every tiny bit of the story imaginable
