I had this problem also. It seems that its the batteries that cause this. I always bought pretty cheap ones (there called cp32 or something). I went to Edinburgh recently (which is an 8 hour + train journey from where I live) and my NGPC light kept flashing like mad. As soon as I found a shop in Edinburgh that had the batteries I bought one, thought it was real steep for £4, but it hasn't flashed since. So I think it helps alot to use decent batteries, and not cheaper ones
