I managed to get my Japanese AES system modified with the debug bios chip about two months ago and I think that it's well worth the money.
The chip has many great features and a simple "MVS-style" user interface which is very easy to use. You can even use your AES system as a 1-slot MVS arcade system with all MVS options (difficulty level, blood on/off, game modes etc.) available! The debug bios is unaffected by reset (it has a useful software reset option on it's main menu), but if you turn the power off your configuration will be lost.
