I'm all for doing stuff like that, and doing something a bit "different", that is fine with me... I'm just not fine with them making Mai look like an anorexic monkey. 
I did warm to that artists work though later on - for instance, his work that was used on the SVC website was very good for the most part, but 2001 was nasty imho...
