Athena and Mai look nice in that art 
The backgrounds look really nice for the most part, but the sprites look rough as hell and I think it will show up even more when you see them in front of hi-res backgrounds. I wish they had at least tidied them up a bit, but I spose I'll wait to see what it looks like in motion.
