Yeah, do a match between Kusanagi and K9999 and they even have a special intro which is a homage to Akira - see my KOF 2002 review
Some of Falcoon's costume designs were amazing - I don't like *all* of them but some were very good indeed. It'd be cool to see what he could do if he was officially allowed to design everyone for the next game.
