I agree - even though I own a PS2/Xbox/GC, I still play Neo Geo stuff as much as anything.
Yeah you will get a lot of crap from regular mainstream gamers, but the Neo Geo will still get a lot of respect from hardcore gamers that actually know what they are talking about. Having said that, not all "casual" gamers are like that - I do have a few friends that have seen me playing stuff like Metal Slug and have ended up playing the game to death. I've even got some of them interested in Last Blade and Mark of the Wolves, although I know that they would definitely not feel the same about game like Art of Fighting or World Heroes... which I guess is understandable as only people like us that used to play them "back in the day" can truly appreciate them for what they are. The stupid thing is that all of them are much more likely to accept games with this type of graphics if they are on a handheld like the GBA... somehow they suddenly think gameplay is "fantastic", just because it is on a handheld.
As Goemon said though, it is "their loss". So long as you get the most fun out of these games that you can, it really doesn't matter what a bunch of snobbish mainstream gamers might think
