On closer inspection I don't think it is a rehash of the SF2 sprite or anything, just bad work on the part of SNKP... they obviously didn't pay much attention to some of the frames of animation. Although it's hard to tell from that pic, look at him closely in game and you can see it really bad

come to think of it, yeah i noticed that too. his face changes when doing the walk animation.
