I actually got the AES system about 5 weeks ago, but I haven't had any time to post the news until now...
The AES system package turned out to be quite different from what I had originally ordered (I marked the changes with italic font) :
When the Neo Geo AES system finally arrived, the first thing that suprised me was that all items were in excellent condition with original packages!
On the other hand I got the Japanese version of Samurai Shodown II (Shin Samurai Spirits). Fortunately you can change the language from japanese to english in the options menu.
-- Edit --
When I tried the AES for the first time everything worked fine except for the video output, which became a VERY annoying problem. The picture quality of the original composite video cable was pretty bad, but fortunately the employees of the second-hand video games store were able to make me a custom RGB cable with a Scart connector for 13 €. It didn't work at first though... It was only after I had taken the whole AES system back to the store the modified cable finally worked, but it was definetly worth it : The picture is now very sharp and the colours also look much better.
The graphics are much less pixellated than on a computer monitor. The scanlines also make the graphics look better. It took me a while to get used to the Neo Geo CD controller, but now I like it more than the Gravis Gamepad on my PC!
Samurai Shodown II looks awesome when played on a 41" television (103 cm from top left to bottom right corner)! Some stages in SS2, like Nicotine's stage (temple, mist) and Charlotte's stage (Versailles palace) look amazing on a large television, not to mention the sheer size of Earthquake! ;D
