I think out of the whole series Im a bigger fan of the origional than any of the others ,just because it was the first in a long line of great fun games. I really like the somewhat darker look of 1 a bit more than the others 
I should also add that I like the origionals length, its perfect for a quick destructive gaming romp when you dont want or have the time to spend playing for a bit.
As for 3 ,there is no denying that is a great game due to its length alone though, X is another fave of the series for me as well ,gotta love the Aliens
All in all other than 2 and its slowdown and 4 for its somewhat dull feeling gameplay {not sure why ..but it seems to feel that way to me} there isnt really a bad game in the entire run.
