lol yeah I did go a bit overboard, but I've been on something of an emotional rollercoaster this past season, and Tuesday was such a great and emotional night for us scouse supporters. Cos of that I do get a bit wound up when someone says something that blatantly isn't true, but anyway yeah I guess I did go off on one a little bit
Anyway mate, I know how you felt after Saturday night (buzzing), I feel the same way after Tuesday night, even though we haven't won anything yet (in fact I have barely slept the past few nights). I've supported Liverpool all my 25 years, and it has been a long 20 year wait to see us in the final of the top European cup again. I really hope we manage to win it, it's great for us obviously, but even better for English football - about time we bought something big home again! If we don't make it into next years competition as it looks like we might not even if we do win it, I really hope you go off and win it next year... if we do somehow make it in, then I'll be cheering you on *if* you make it further than us
. Imagine that, English clubs winning the Champions League twice in a row and then maybe the national team bringing home the biggest honour of them all next year? ;D
As for Lamps though, I agree with you on Joe Cole not getting the plaudits he deserves (not until recently anyway), but when it comes to Robben and Duff people are always on about them... in fact it's gotten to the point where it's annoying cos some people would have you believe Chelsea can't do anything whatsoever when they aren't playing. Obviously you are much better with them than without though... but pretty much any team would be let's face it. As a total non-Chelsea fan though, Lamps is still one of the best in the country imho, and one of the hardest working/most dedicated players there is, but as I said before Gerrard is just one of the those players who really chases a game and can make things happen when no-one else can (hence the media going overboard with the "Gerrard saves the day again" stuff ). Lamps is just a different type of player really, he can make things happen to a certain extent (look at some of the goals he's grabbed for you and some of his passing), but Gerrard is just on a different level. I guess part of it comes from the "local lad" situation... Stevie has been a Liverpool fan all his life, and has only ever played for Liverpool, whereas Lampard wasn't always Chelsea. I'd never doubt Frank Lampards work rate (and obviously he loves Chelsea now), but sometimes playing for your own club can make that little bit of a difference. Just look at Jamie Carragher for another example! Or John Terry for that matter...
