The game was messed up completely1. Shoulda been a peno no doubt about it
Yes, and a red card for Cech. The rules clearly state that if a player is denied a clear scoring chance by the keeper (and he bought Baros down big time without getting the ball), its a straight red. There were not many commentators or even media people (who usually have a strong London bias) that didnt think it should have been red. The ref looked at the linesmen who said "goal" and he probably just decided to give the goal seeing as a straight red so early on would have ruined the occasion and turned it very bad tempered. I think Chelsea got off lightly on that one, but I do think a straight red would have soured the occasion so I'm glad he didn't.
2. Stupid gay Liverpool fans running on the pitch? says it all really dont it
Get your fucking facts straight... they were BARCELONA FANS! No *true* Liverpool fans are that fucking stupid these days. Didn't you notice them throw a Barcelona flag over Mourinho? They did that cos Jose was Bobby Robsons translator at Barcelona, and they used to like him... but after the whole Chelsea/Barca refereeing incident (and the fact that Chelsea beat 'em at the Bridge), they hate him now. It was the same group of fans that threw a Barca flag over Luis Figo in Euro 2004. Some people really don't know their history of the game... it shows the real fans from the plastic ones.
Anyway, I can maybe unserstand you not knowing about the Figo/Jose/Barca thinng, but what made you instantly assume it was Liverpool fans and not Chelsea anyway?
3. 6 minutes added on at the end!?
Probably to do with the Barca idiots on the pitch, but yeah 6 was excessive to the extreme. How would that be a reason to replay the game when WE won though....? Playing 6 mins put US at a disadvantage and we came through it ok anyway
Anyway, thanks Tsim/Jdash. Thanks for being gracious in defeat Tsim, you know that's how I acted earlier on in the season, and due to all my Chelsea mates I do respect your team... in fact I have done for many many years, and I've spent many a good hour down the pub with those mates enjoying some great Liverpool/Chelsea games. This is what amazes me though - down the pub I watched the game at, my best mate and his sister are Chelsea, and there was a good mix of both Cockney and scouse fans, but the atmosphere was incredible.... singing, shouting and lots of friendly banter between us, but it was all good natured no matter the outcome. And it was just the same after the game... Chelsea fans bought me a few beers, in fact there was a bloody Arsenal fan down there and HE bought me a beer and said "well done Neil Mellor" (fans will get that). Oh and did I mention that I'm speaking to an AC Milan fan on MSN right now who I used to work with, and we are having a good convo abou the final? Well, I am, goes to show that some people know how to be gracious and have good conversation with fellow fans
Anyway, I get back from that pub with its great atmsophere and a plastic fan like Klarkus has to talk complete rubbish for no real reason (especially about the Liverpool fans, sorry that annoys me badly)... you don't even support either team do you? Just goes to show really... in fact you did say to me right before I left for the game mate that we had "no chance whatsoever". Who's laughing now? Like I say though, the rest of us TRUE fans, no matter what our allegiance, can have a proper conversation about it. And support the English teams to go all the way! When it comes to accusing fans of something, get your facts straight before you blast them next time, don't speak about things when you don't actually know
tsim: dont be too hard on lamps, I thought he had a slightly off game but for some reason it didn't seem like he got enough service at times... and he needs that cos he's a different type of player to Gerrard. He's a little more measured, whereas Gerrard chases the game in a more "all action" way. I personally feel Stevie is the better of the two, but I must admit Lamps has had a better season overall this time around
Oh and although he seemed bitter in the post match interview (then again I would be too), fair play to Jose for clapping the Liverpool fans and shaking every Liverpool players hand right after the game. I watched the whole of the celebrations on the Liverpool site (which you didnt see on TV), and it really was something special. That really sums up what the game is about to me, not petty arguments.
Anyway:

I don't care what Skys computer generated mock-up says... it just makes no sense at all. Hell, I can draw up a mock-up myself and say it *did* cross the line, anyone can. Hand on heart I still can't say for sure, but look at Gallas standing foot, it is bang on the line there right? In Skys computer generated shot from an above angle, his standing foot is NOT on the line. Great accuracy there from the LONDON BASED media
