Bound Bye Honor is definitly one of the best "reality type" prison movies made to date. I have seen the inside of a few prisons first hand and have known a few people that have done time in serious places like Corcoran ,Solidad and the infamous S.H.U.E. unit at Pelican Bay and have been told that this movie more or less mirrors gang/Prison reality within the Ca state prison system.
American me is another that is actually pretty decent , if you want to know what doing time in a Ca prison is really like take a look at this

I can say that touring a few facilities [ Soledad ,Salinas Valley , San Quentin and Corcoran ] were without a doubt amongst the most unnerving experiences I have ever been through and I have seen plenty of things ranging from full on combat at age 18 in Panama via the US Marine Corps { Simper FI !!!!
) to Kuait city in 90/91, to quite a few nasty crime scenes and traffic accidents since then and none of it has had the same mental impact that just being in the prison atmosphere has.... spooky place ..... I definitly wouldnt want to have to fight my way through that world.
