I'm beginning to think some of the flakey behaviour on here is down to the board not liking this RAM I have... gonna try some better stuff to see how that fares, and also flash the bios to the latest version as according to the gigabyte site the latest version for my board fixes some problems with certain brands of ram... so it's possible this is a part of the problem.
Also... it might be possible that my HD/DVD drives are not configured properly. I think the way they got setup is that the burner is on the same channel as the main HD, so that is another possible source of trouble. I'm gonna check that out tomorrow, too tired right now. Right, I'm off to bed I think and hopefully I'll have some more answers very soon!
