The film "lock stock and 2 smoking barrels" was such a success that it almost redefined the gangster film genre in the way it was done as in recording and film effects, (usually British 
), especially the camerawork and general style in how it was done.
It was unlike any other gangster film and when a winning formula appears it gets used by other producers.
Layer cake is another one of the more succesful films of this type and I can only hope this genre doesn't get exploited and turn for the worse.
