Try moving the ram to a different slot , naturally you should use which ever is designated as slot #1 since it will have the fastest pipe to the chipset. I know there are some ram diagnostic programs out but I havent used any in soo long that I cant remember what they are... I will look around a bit and see if I can find a decent one.
What is the board ?
I'll mess with the RAM, but if you can find out about some sort of diagnostic tool that might help. My boards a Gigabyte one, will have to check exactly which one it is.
who makes the ram ? There are some known compatibility issues using Kingston ram on certain chipsets { mostly on ECS boards }
Don't think it is Kingston RAM, but again I'm gonna have to check
If you are running more than 1 stick of ram I would remove them all and run 1 single stick in slot 1 and see how it goes. You may just want to grab a cheap Simm and see if its the same... Also take a look around and see if any programs you run conflict with others you may be using... Most likely its going to be some kind of software hoseing up youre registry or eating ram and not giving it back, this can be pretty common even with XP Pro ... which you should definitly run
Don't think it is a software issue, cos I've only just re-installed windows...
