The last few years I have been seriously considering the purchase of an older exotic car. Was sort of curious as to what other people would consider for under say $30,000 to $35,000. Personally I like to tinker abit under the hood so a car that needs regular service intervals doesnt scare me too much, granted most newer Ferraris like the Testerosa are reasonable at about $50K but when a standard belt service adds up to over $8K { friend of mine sold his due to this sort of maintenance } they wont make my buying list.
I have owned three 911's over the years so they dont appeal to me anymore, great road cars bye the way
At the moment I am looking at a first generation NSX since they are a great bargain at $25 to $30K....but as nice as they are I think I want something abit more rumbly and a charachter all its own. So Ive narrowed my choice down to three.
Early Pantera ,incredibly beautiful cars with a great engine that can be as radical as you want from any american engine builder ,Cleavland parts can be pricey but hell, damn near any crate V8 from ford will bolt in easilly so cost is not a problem ,in fact alot of the newer GT5-S cars had supercharged 302's in them.
66/67 Sunbeam Tiger [my dad had one when I was about 11 ]
and probably the most unknown and under rated Ferrari ever built...
the 75 to 1980 Dino 308 GT4
the GT4 [ 1977 and below since they have no cattalytic convertors ] is definitly winning of the three in every way ,they are more than fast enough to stay right up with their successor [ 308/328 ] and outhandle them in a much more comfortable cabin along with a great 255hp V8 that has to be heard to appreciate.
What would you guys buy ? ohh yeah at $17.000 to about $25,000 the GT4 wins price wise too ;DTEXTTEXTTEXT
ehh G4Tv is total crap ,what a waste of tv air time ..... just had to say that ;D
