Heya - welcome to the forum and I can definitely say that we are usually really chilled out here... we have our moments but 99% of the time we are all here just to have a laugh and enjoy the games. Have fun here 
Just for the record, I do go to neo-geo.com and other members here post there also, and the majority of people I know there are good people... unfortunately there are the select few that seem to lurk there for nothing but causing arguments (big sites like that always attract that kind of thing I'm afraid), and there's a few who can never just "agree to disagree". Too many good topics there turn into flame war needlessly, but I don't want to say a lot of bad things about the site because there's still a lot of good people there, and Shawn is a pretty good guy.
Anyways, as I said, welcome to the forum and hopefully you'll enjoy your stay!
