garage = garbage I'd agree with you on that... but the way you feel about rock/metal/punk etc etc is basically the same way I personally feel about pop and almost all RNB and rap. The way I look at it is I like to hear music where the performers have some talent (like being able to play an instrument or sing well live), and a lot of todays music has none of that at all.
Before anyone goes crazy I don't think the same way about all non-rock stuff as many other artists do have talent, but it really isn't my sort of thing... but I'll at least respect talented individuals even if I hate their stuff
