Maybe need ears syringed to clean it out...? I've never had to have it done, but you'll have fun after it's been done (if you need it)... your hearing goes superhuman for a short while afterwards, and people talking normally sounds like they are shouting. I remember my bro having it done and for a few hours he couldn't bear to have the TV turned up more than one bar
