Well, seems the PC is ok... for the time being at least. I left it on for a few hours and came back and it hadn't locked up. I think any virus/spyware that might have been on there has been cleared, but for some odd reason when I run avast antivirus scan it sometimes locks up. I might just re-install soon anyway to make 100% sure, luckily now most of my stuff is all on a seperate hard drive, so if I format C it just means I'll have to re-install a few programs as and when I need them. No biggie
