Those new menu's look extremely sweet also kaz. So is it possible to play VCD's on a dvd player, & would it have the same quality?
Most dvd players will play vcd's just fine, although some older players won't read cdr's so homemade ones wont work. As fot the qaulity, VCD is actually FAR lower quality than DVD. For a start the resolution is at least half of a normal dvd, so even on a tv you will see the difference.
If you are going to burn a load of mpegs onto a dvd you can actually make what is known as a DVD-VCD which uses files that are the same quality as a standard VCD, but obviously you can fit LOADS more on a DVD than a standard cd, plus you can do proper DVD menus too. Otherwise, if you re-encode whatever episodes you have in proper dvd quality you won't fit as much (you can still get well over 100 minutes depending on what quality settings you use though) but the improvement in quality will be easily apparent.
The big question on what format you decide to use depends on what your source file is like. For instance, my Naruto episodes are quite high quality divx files, so to preserve that encoded them in dvd quality. However, I also made some dvd's that had skate videos on them, and the original files were only encoded from VHS tapes anyway and didn't look amazing originally, so I re-encoded them as mpeg 1 as there wouldn't have been any significant gain in quality if I did them in a higher quality format. Because of this I managed to fit 12 skate videos on one disc, and all of them are at least half an hour. We'll have to make a dvd discussion thread now if anyone wants to try their hand at making their own discs... I'll help if I can, although I'm still learning myself
Hullcity: Sega Bass Fishing huh? I never did get to try that. What I wanted to try more was Soul Calibur using the fishing rod... apparently it's quite fun
