We have some very good news and some bad news regarding the April 16th Japanese release of Kill Bill Vol 1.
First the good news. The DVD will contain the full 113mins uncut Asian release of the movie (with no black & white footage, and a lot more blood & carnage than the western theatrical / DVD releases) presented with English & Japanese DD5.1, and English DTS audio. Extras will include two behind-the-scenes featurettes (for both animated and action scenes).
The DVD will be available on its own or part of a Limited Editon box set that will also house some very cool gifts including a 1/10 scale model of the Hattori Hanzo katana sword, a T-shirt and a little plastic blood-covered Kubrick bear.
The bad news is that, as with the Japanese release of Dances With Wolves, there will be no English subtitles just for the Japanese speaking parts. You will be able to either have English subtitles for the whole span of the movie, or not at all. Leaving it up to the user to turn them on and off when needed.
