What Internet Nicks do you use, and why?

Hmm. Interesting topic, I hadn't really thought about why I use the nicks I use for a while. Since my real name, Chris Harback, doesn't lend itself to any interesting nicks, I started out at university in 1989 as 'emperor'. For a really long time (and on the old Neo Geo mailing list) I went by karasu and later karasu99. Karasu is of course crow in Japanese (okay, fruity non-gaming hobby alert-- I'm an occasional bird watcher, and crows are a favorite). These days I go by B. Kai, which is short for Bird Kai-- again with the bird business-- sort of like '1943 Kai'. I just decided that karasu99 sounded too done these days.
