We'll have to agree to disagree on this matter, as I feel that relying on parrying won't get you too far in this game, regardless of how advantageous it can be. You DO have to practice it, that's true, but to rely on it all the time is just plain crazy. It isn't infallible, after all. It was a lot easier for me to learn to parrying by blocking and be ready for a red parry than to go stir crazy and parry blindly when you're not even sure what you're looking out for.
