I imported a Japanese psp about a month ago, and I couldn't be more pleased. I didn't go for the value pack, because I thought the added value wasn't exactly added. A 32MB memory stick? What's up with that? Get the standard pack, and with the money you spare buy yourself a decent memory stick. And a protective cover, the one thing in the value pack that is really worthwhile, as the psp is a dust and fingerprint magnet.
Since I have a wireless network at home, one of the first things I tried was updating the firmware, and it worked like a charm. My Japanese psp now supports Dutch (my mother language).
I only got Lumines for the psp so far, but it's keeping me busy enough. Great puzzle & music game.
Maybe the psp should have supported more video formats, because now you have to convert to mp4 every time, and the position of the movie map on the memory stick isn't logical either (the psp doesn't even put it on the memory stick when you first format it). On the other hand, this conversion makes it possible for you to determine the quality and size of the video file.
The price tag on the games is right, the umd video on the other hand is a bit too expensive at this point.
