I just have to state that i've played and love all those games, it seemed nobody else i knew was diggin Alundra but i thought it was sweet ;D Btw, i like the way you mentioned ff7 & 8 but not 9, just cause i think 9 is crap 
If you still like rpg's though your missing out on a crutial series, Suikoden 1 & 2 by Konami. Playing them is a must, dl the iso's if you have to. Suikoden is something any rpg fan that owns a PS should never miss out on.
