HDTV runs resolutions that are far higher than the paltry 600 lines a normal television screen can display. The problem is those things cost a shitload of money (5000 bucks for a television set that isn't even that big?) and besides, in most European countries the HDTV standard isn't even supported by television channels.
That's going to change soon though. I have noticed that the production of lcd television screen (that can be used for HDTV) has been greatly increased so I'm expecting this to be the next bomb after the dvd player.
