Favourite Shoot Em Ups?

I didn't play Donpachi yet, only its sequel Dodonpachi. If I have to believe the reviews, both games are just as frantic. I was slightly disappointed with the conversion job of Dodonpachi on the Saturn. It does have a tate mode, but that involves you putting the television on its side in order to enjoy it fully. Unfortunately my television doesn't handle such positions well so I had to restrict myself to the normal mode. A shame that this mode doesn't offer any customisation when it comes to screen layout. Luckily enough the gameplay is still there.

I'll have to check out this Assault Suit Leynos. The shmup sites that I visit don't list it. Is it a pure shmup or a mixed genre?
