I know im probly kinda late on this but i just found the secret area on level 3 
no new slug though, its a shame cause that evil heli slug would have fit perfectly in the area.
I've played thru the game 3 times in a row today on a mission just to find new area's but i can only find 2. Playing so many times in a row like this really makes me notice stuff more, like how in the final mission while driving the car slug when you see the tower of the end boss in the back you can see the dark formation on the top of what looks like this-
in the distance... so many reasons why its unacceptable to not have the shaman as the end boss, its a shame.
