You want to go to a command prompt and use the -joystick command to get your pad activated. DO the following: 1. Click start and go to "run". 2. Type in "cmd" and press enter 3. You'll now need to get to the dir where mame is. First type "C:" (replace "C:" with the letter of your HD if it is not C) and press enter, and now type in "cd" and then the location of your mame DIR. For instance it might be: cd emulators\mame\ 4. Now you are in the dir, launch mame by using the following command: mame ms5 -joystick Of your mame has a different filename (like ms5mame.exe or whatever), then type that instead of just "mame", and if your ms5 zip is different (some of them are entitled "ms5nd", then type that instead of just "ms5". That's it, mame will now run and whatever joystick you have configured in windows will be activated, now you just need to press tab once the game is running to configure your keys. I know this sounds really complex, but it isn't really and will only take you a few seconds to do. You can also download front ends for mame that do all the work for you and all you have to do is set what options you want using a menu - I have no idea what the best ones are though, someone else can probably help you with that. I know no-one has done this yet, but once again please don't post any links to versions of MAME that have newer games enabled, as distributing them is against the MAME license - I'm sure you can find them at the usual places Kaz
