What kinda of system setup do you guys have for emulating? Computer, monitor, joysticks, etc. Also, do you sit down or stand when playing? What type of games do you favor? and finally How did you become a Neo Freak!?
I have a P4 2.4g, 1 gig ram, 3 hard drives (main one has OS and utilities and is 10g. Then I have two 100g drives... one is the master drive which contains all the roms and the other is strictly a clone of it should the main one fail). I have an X-Arcade setup with 2 player sticks and have numerous consoles like the Gamecube, PSX, PS2, Dreamcast, X-box, Saturn, etc... connected to the same X-arcade stick and 21' PC monitor. In another corner I have the Genesis, Snes/GDoctor, Nintendo64/CD64 and Turbografx-16 connected to a 27' television for the ultimate gaming basement. Also have an air hockey table, dart board, mini basketball, tabletop foosball and tabletop pool. I am a die hard fighting fan however!
I recall the first time I was in a pizzeria and saw Art of Fighting, my jaw literally dropped. Shortly after that I went to China town here in NYC and got the game without owning the system! I believe it was like $150 or so for the cart. Then every payday after that I would get another cart. I recall I had like 6 games prior to actually having enough for the Gold system. That $500 was the best ever spent! The box was huge and I recall going with my cousin to buy it and having the store clerk put a huge garbage bag over it so nobody would see what I was carrying. I would go on and get numerous cart as they were released. Then from their I got a Neo CD (top load…slow as hell). I got the Neo CD and a bundle of games in one shot and was truly addicted to this SNK brand! Finally got a Neo Pocket and a Neo Pocket Color about 5 or 6 years ago. Then about 2 years ago I got a guy from England to make me a mini Supergun. I picked up a 1 slot MVS, 13 MVS games from MDGameSales and a multi system controller which I would later wire up myself for my MVS from Mass Systems. I recall bugging Kaz with long questions of should I get this and what is better AES or MVS and he answer every question honestly and politely. So Kaz “THANK YOU!” brother! I admit I am a Neo addict but as long as they keep putting them out there I will keep this addicting going! I have SNK games for Saturn, PSX, PS2, Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, X-box and Gamecube! Even though I do emulate I still go out and get the games when they are released for consoles as most of the time they add to them or just sound better on DVD. I just recently got KOF00/01 & SVC for PS2 and they ROCK! Can’t wait to pickup KOF02 & SamSho5 when they are released! Well that’s my Neo essay, sorry to bore you as I just felt like typing ;D.
